Newslettering on Dreamwidth

Dreamwidth has just launched Open Beta! Do you have any newsletter plans for Dreamwidth? Are you planning on opening a newsletter on Dreamwidth? Or moving or crossposting a current newsletter to Dreamwidth? Tell us about it! What are your ideas and how are you going to make them happen?

I'm aiming to do a weekly or bi-weekly newsletter at history, collecting posts about (guess what?) history, updates on history carnivals, and links to history sites. (I think I'm not doing one this week because I'm busy with BADD instead.)

Ah! Have you set a definite date for when you're going start to crosspost - or just whenever you've finished setting up here? (And lotrips don't seem to lack for content, thankfully, going by the latest issue even with a few writers shutting the comm out?)

At this point, I may just post my listings to lotr_all_fic in an attempt to avoid fragmentation. Not a whole lot of us over here yet.

Already moved both mine over and started crossposting! I set up the mod account tonight with an invite, so this weekend I'll start using that. Plus, I was able to tweak murklins scripts to post DW links correctly. Yay!

I'll admit, I cheated a bit - you had scripted in posting to greatestjournal and I just c/p DW info in it's place. ;)

Oh, very awesome. Do you generate two - or three actually -issues then? One for LiveJournal, one for InsaneJournal and one for Dreamwdith? *curious*

I crosspost the same issue to all three - I was going to drop IJ, but a few people read over there and it's easy enough to crosspost.

Is this by any chance a delicious -> journal script? If so, may I have a link?

I bought murklins at a Sweet Charity auction a few years back and she created the scripts for me. The script collate the delicious links into the actual newsletter post. I don't know how I managed without them, they are very, very awesome. I don't know how adaptable my scripts are, I know she needed some specifics from me to pull them together.

dreamwidth_chronicle is still sorting itself out. I hope we'll be really, really ready to go by the end of the week.

I have a pairing-specific newsletter on lj, hpgw_otp, but since most of our readers haven't moved, there's no real reason to bring the newsletter over here at this time.

That said, I notice that there's already metafandom and daily_snitch over here! Yay!!

*nods* Understandable. I think pairing-specific newsletters have a less incentive to maintain a homebase on Dreamwidth if the audience isn't there.

You can't use DW's crossposting feature to crosspost to comms, correct?

I don't believe so. By "crossposting" I just mean "posting multiply."
